FAMILY, EDUCATION AND THE CHALLENGES OF CONTEMPORANEITY

Thinking in favor of the new man presupposes keeping two important actors in mind: family and school. The first, because it is the living space in which one is born and the closest social institution where the first lessons of life are acquired. The second, given its mission in society: transmit the knowledge, habits and skills that make each person competent for their useful insertion in it. For its part, education as a process is conditioned by the economic and social environment and its historical setting. Consequently, the efforts made by the Revolution in educational matters, unquestionable, furthermore, progressively lead us to the necessary and systematic rapprochement between the family and the school. However, in a limited way still. Based on these elements, an analysis is carried out on the relevance of strengthening these links, taking into account the fundamental changes that occur within the current Cuban family, inserted in a society open to change and, at the same time, in a context marked by a little known disease and whose economic reality suffers the impacts of the intensification of the blockade.
