Conceptions of educational directors about the work of the school psycho-pedagogue

The research is part of the project Orientation and psychopedagogical counseling in educational, labor, social and clinical contexts for Cuban socio-educational development, which is developed at the University of Las Tunas, and aims to assess the role of counseling that the school psychopedagogue should play to the main management cadres in educational institutions. It starts from the theoretical analysis of the main references about the training of this professional and the fulfillment of the advisory function, which they are not always able to fulfill due to the application of concepts that are not consistent with what is established by some managers. For the solution to this problem, a preparation program for directors is proposed regarding the knowledge of the counseling potentialities that the psychopedagogue possesses in their professional performance. Therefore, the improvement program will allow to deepen in the fundamental elements of the advisory function that this professional must fulfill, as a member of the board of directors and that will revert to greater achievements of the educational process. Different theoretical and empirical research methods were used that allowed corroborating the need to study this problem.
