ACTIVITIES TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE UNDERSTANDING OF ARITHMETIC PROBLEMS IN THE INITIAL TRAINING OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

Primary Education today requires a professional prepared in the political, psychological, pedagogical and didactic aspects, and with mastery of the content. This is to develop a flexible and innovative educational work that links the general objectives in the formation of children, adolescents and young people, with the singularities of each one, including the particularities of the educational institution and its environment. Continuous improvement imposes on the University the task of preparing young people for life. The development of arithmetic problem solving skills should be the focus of special attention, because of its importance from the practical point of view. Solving arithmetic problems has always been one of the main pillars of learning mathematics, which implies, among other things, knowing how to integrate objects, definitions and mathematical representations in a coherent manner and knowing how to use these configurations to find the correct answers to the given problem. With this objective, in this research, it is offered a set of activities to favor the resolution of arithmetic problems in students of the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, from the training in the use of heuristic procedures, specifying the work with the heuristic auxiliary means.
