Abstract

This research is based on the understanding of role stress as a psychosocial risk factor in the workplace. It highlights the understanding of the dialectical relationship between mastery and primary prevention, intrinsic elements of effective management of role stress. The essential elements of the educational psychosocial intervention designed, oriented towards a culture of prevention, from the empowerment of psychological capital are addressed. The research problem is: How to improve the safety and health at work of doctors and nurses at the Dr. Mario Muñoz Monroy polyclinic? Thus, we set ourselves the objective of developing an educational psychosocial intervention strategy to promote the effective management of role stress in doctors and nurses. It was found that role stress affects all the participants, in whom ambiguity was in the medium range, while conflict and overload were in the high range. The most affected are the resident nurses and doctors; also corroborating the existence of work-family conflict, the presence of psychosocial risk factors in the organization such as high job demands, little control over work, recurrent changes, little social support and difficulties in social relationships. A mixed approach methodology was used. The doctors and nurses of this institution are subjected to a wide range of psychosocial factors and risks that affect both their health and the organization itself, which is why the need to design an educational psychosocial intervention is evident.
