Abstract

The novelty of researching on contextualization-based competence development during English language teaching for specific purposes in training institutions lies in the need to adapt English language teaching to the demands and requirements of the specific contexts in which students need to use it. In addition, this research contributes to improving the quality of English language teaching for specific purposes, through the design and application of contextualized teaching strategies that enable students to develop linguistic and communicative skills and competencies relevant to their performance in real-life situations. Likewise, this has important practical implications, as it helps teachers to better understand the needs and demands of their students and to design and implement more effective didactic strategies for the development of competencies based on contextualization. In addition, this research contributes to the development of educational policies and programs that promote the teaching of English for specific purposes in ways that are more effective and relevant to the needs of students and the communities to which they belong.
