As a general objective that will solve the problem: to develop a methodology to improve the teaching categorization process of the professors of the Department of Medical Informatics of the "Enrique Cabrera" Faculty of Medical Sciences. For this, theoretical level methods were used: analytical - synthetic; inductive-deductive and abstraction-concretion, modeling and the explanatory-illustrative method. The population consisted of 13 professors from the department. As results obtained, it was possible to verify that the adequate planning, orientation, execution and control in the treatment of the fundamental types of classes for the improvement of the teaching-methodological work from the methodological teaching meeting, is the fundamental way to carry out the exercises with the required quality, for this the following were taken as references: the instructive, demonstrative methodological class, open class, verification class and the methodological teaching workshop. It was evidenced that the methodological teaching preparation was effective due to the satisfactory results achieved by two of the department's teachers who participated in the exercise. A methodology was proposed to develop the instructional methodological class available to teachers.
