Abstract

This study analyzes certain reflections as support for the creation of a conceptual scaffolding that promotes intercultural competence in the professional framework of our tour guides. It is considered that the development of this competence has not been sufficiently studied in courses for the language improvement of tourism. The objective is focused on the intercultural learning approach and the treatment of situations that can promote discriminatory stereotypes in the relationships between German-speaking clients and Cuban tour guides, by making use of the theory of mediation in their professional context. The work focused on a new definition of intercultural competence and proposed the design of an exercise system, inserted in a postgraduate course with blended characteristics.
