In recent decades, language teaching has intensified in our country, due to globalization and the expansion of bilingual and international schools. Looking at the internationalization of basic education, this article aims to analyze the understanding of teaching and learning in the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate (IB) through the analysis of the document "Learning and Teaching". The data indicate that the IB documents direct teaching towards a transdisciplinary perspective with a focus on projects. To this end, the document states that the student should be the center of the entire teaching and learning process. Moreover, we observe an influence of pedagogical movements such as Reggio Emilia and Montessori, as well as authors such as Gardner when defending the experiences and the different abilities of students. In this sense, it is clear the relationship of the IB curriculum as an engine for the construction of projects and learning by concepts, although there are gaps, which, as the document points out, should be built by each school from their regional and national realities.
