Abstract

The use of portfolio as an authentic means to assess students learning has become an important tool in the teaching practice and, in the preparation of English teachers is not an exception. This article describes the experience of using portfolio with university students on their third year of their career as English Teachers at the Universidad Autónoma de Guerrero, in Acapulco, Mexico. The objective was to assess four areas: a) personal development, b) academic development, c) professional development and d) society commitment. This is an action research study exploring and analyzing through the four areas, the main reflections made by students and what they found more significant after experiencing the portfolio.
