Abstract

This essay reflects on the relevance of approaching the graphic novel "Benkoz renace" within classrooms to carry out literary analysis taking into account some conceptualizations of cultural studies, as it is a popular product with a strong historical load, political, social and ideological. Within the text, some controversial issues are discussed in front of the graphic novel such as the literary canon, passing through the importance of approaching forgotten historical themes such as the African diaspora, the emancipation of black communities, the relevant characters for this liberation such as Benkos.
